Store Policies & FAQ

Our Environmental Impact

We are committed as a small fibre arts business to always acknowledge and understand our impact on the environment. We are committed to learning and evolving sustainably as we grow our business.

Below we will outline some of the key things we already have in place within our small business, then some actions we will be taking to improve upon our sustainability goals.

 with.

Key points

  • Almost all of our materials are recycled, reused, reclaimed, repurposed, and/or are 100% natural.

  • We recycle and reuse everything we can until we have as little wase as possible. For example, bigger pieces of leftover cord get used into smaller pieces, then into tassels, etc until nothing is left. The same is true for wood and the offcuts.

  • One cord supplier we have uses 100% natural cotton cords for our macrame twine, the other for our braided cord is recycled from cotton t-shirts.

  • We are extremely mindful for our packaging. We use stamps, cardboard, paper packaging, plus whatever comes into our household with deliveries is reused again in our orders.

  • Driftwood is sourced locally, other wood is broken down from pallets, furniture or is gifted to us to reuse and recycle.

  • Our techniques mean our work is mostly and knotted together, is strong and long lasting. We try to use zero or very little adhesives.

  • We always source materials from UK businesses.

  • We pride ourselves on swapping small with other businesses. Often for gifts, events or skills are exchanged.

  • We grow and propagate all our own plants to offer with our plant hangers at events.

  • Regularly donate to charities local and nationwide including working with an NHS charity.

  • Our energy and water consumption are absolutely minimum as we use only our hands for our physical work. We also work from anywhere as we are often traveling, so outside, from our van etc.

  • Materials we use are almost all biodegradable.

Actions we as a business are committed to taking next

  • We have identified a business and are working with them to calculate our carbon footprint which we will offset by the planting of trees and giving back to nature.

  • We aim to use even less adhesives and or find less harmful products.

  • Donate more to charities and businesses as we grow.

  • Always learn and evolve, and keep this statement and commitment up to date.

  • Communicate this policy to our customers and businesses we work with.
